Geofrey Mandela Kengere, BScN
Geofrey Mandela Kengere is a Registered Nurse and Wound, Stoma & Continence Care Specialist with over 9 years of clinical and healthcare experience spanning clinical nursing, patient care, occupational health and safety, patient safety, quality improvement, healthcare administration and institutional leadership.
He currently serves as a Nursing Officer at Kenyatta National Hospital, one of Kenya’s leading referral hospitals, where he has gained experience across Mental Wellness, Nephrology, Respiratory and Medical-Surgical care.
Specialised Wound, Stoma & Continence Care Training
Geofrey has completed specialised training in Wound, Stoma and Continence Care at the Kenyatta National Hospital School of Nursing, strengthening his knowledge and skills in the assessment, management and ongoing care of patients with complex wounds, stomas and continence-related needs.
This specialised training complements his broader clinical nursing experience and enables him to provide individualised, compassionate and evidence-informed care focused not only on healing, but also on patient education, dignity, independence and quality of life.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Aga Khan University, a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), and is currently completing an MBA in Strategic Healthcare Management at the Open University of Kenya. He is licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
His professional development includes Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, a Senior Management Course from the Kenya School of Government, and certification as a Mental Health Advocate.
Leadership & Healthcare Experience
Beyond clinical practice, Geofrey has demonstrated leadership in patient safety, quality improvement, policy development, occupational health and safety, risk management and multidisciplinary collaboration. He has co-chaired the hospital committee responsible for developing a Gender-Based Violence response policy and currently co-chairs the Culture Change Committee at KNH Prime Care Center.
Previously, he led Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) programmes for a workforce of more than 5,000 employees on Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway project, with responsibilities including safety training, health awareness, emergency response, medical evacuation, incident reporting and regulatory compliance.
